The optimal number of doctors for rapid treatment of waiting patients

This simulation should illustrate waiting time of waiting patients for their treatment in a one specific hospital in surgical ambulances.

Assignment

  • Project Name: The optimal number of doctors for rapid treatment of waiting patients
  • Author: Martina Nováková
  • Software used: Simprocess
  • Model type: Discrete Simulation

What will be simulated

There are some things which cause long waiting time for treatment. One patient usually stays in ambulance between 5-10 minutes. The delay of doctors before they start working can be 30 minut. Treated patients, who are returning from various medical examinations (X-ray, CT and other), can usually come again in ambulances. Patients, who are coming from other medical examinations (where they usually stay around 15-20 minutes at one examination), should be preferred. There should be preferred an urgent case before all too. Most patients are coming between 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. Of course there is a lunch break for doctors during 11:45-12:30 a.m. too. Doctor can be cut off to the operating theatre where he can stay between 0,5 - 1,5 hour. Doctors finish their working hours at 15:00. Values are taken from real hospital environment.

Goal of the simulation

The goal of the simulation is to illustrate the optimal number of doctors in the surgery, so that the patient did not expect more than ever in the span 15-25 minutes and count the cost (salary) of the optimal number of working doctors in ambulances. We can dedicate from the results of simulanion where will be the right time for the doctor´s lunch break.

You will need a lot of data in order to do it realistic. Approved. Tomáš 23:42, 13 December 2014 (CET)
